How scoring works in Phase 10

Phase 10 is a Rummy-style card game where every player tries to complete ten phases — a set sequence of card collections, in order. Each round, players race to complete the current phase and empty their hand. The player who goes out first wins the round; everyone else scores penalty points for the cards left in their hand. Only players who completed the phase move on to the next one; everyone else replays the same phase next round. First player to complete Phase 10 wins; ties are broken by lowest cumulative penalty score. Enter each round's penalty per player on this scorecard; the leaderboard tracks the running total.

Phase 10 scorecard — common questions

What are the 10 phases in Phase 10?+

Phase 1: 2 sets of 3 / Phase 2: 1 set of 3 + 1 run of 4 / Phase 3: 1 set of 4 + 1 run of 4 / Phase 4: 1 run of 7 / Phase 5: 1 run of 8 / Phase 6: 1 run of 9 / Phase 7: 2 sets of 4 / Phase 8: 7 cards of one color / Phase 9: 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 2 / Phase 10: 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 3. The calculator's phase tracker per player remembers what each player is currently working on.

Do I move to the next phase if I don't go out first?+

Only if YOU completed your current phase that round. If the round ends before you laid down your phase, you replay the same phase next round. The first-out player advances, but so does anyone else who managed to complete their phase before the round ended.

How do penalty points work?+

When the round ends, every player except the winner counts the cards in their hand: number cards 1-9 = 5 points each, 10-12 = 10 points each, skips = 15 points, wilds = 25 points. Add these up and enter the total per player. Lowest cumulative penalty is the tiebreaker if multiple players complete Phase 10 in the same round.

How long does Phase 10 take?+

Typical games run 60-90 minutes with 4 players. Each phase takes 1-3 rounds to complete on average, so 10 phases × 1.5 rounds × ~5 minutes per round = roughly an hour. The calculator's per-player phase tracker keeps you from losing track mid-game.

Is it really free? Do I need to sign up?+

Yes, free, no signup. The scorecard runs entirely in your browser — no account, no app to install, no tile data sent anywhere. Ads on the page keep the site running.

How do I share the scorecard with my table?+

Tap the QR code button at the top of any scorecard. Everyone scans it with their phone camera and gets a live view of the same scorecard — they can watch the leaderboard update in real time as you tap.

Do scores save if I close the tab?+

Yes — the in-progress scorecard is saved automatically in your browser. Open the same scorecard URL on the same device and your scores will still be there. To clear, tap Reset.

Does it work on mobile?+

Yes — every scorecard is built phone-first. Big tap targets, big numbers, designed to be passed around the table. Bookmark to your home screen for one-tap access.

Can I undo a tap?+

Yes — every scorecard has an Undo button at the top. It rolls back the last 20 score changes. The Reset button starts the whole game over.

What if my game isn't listed?+

Use the Any Board Game generic scorecard — it gives you flexible round columns and editable labels so you can score basically any round-based game. If you want a specific game added, the AI Prompts Library link in the footer has a feedback form.
